A good Day all round today. There was plenty of coffee and fruit for breakfast. TAti, arrived half way through with several bran paper bags full of soft white rolls.
We cleared away and set off the bus to Dona Jacinta’s house. I enjoyed the walk to the bus stop. Great as aramitan is , it’s nice to have a change of scene now . it was a beautiful morning. The bus came quichly and we all piled on. Rogério and I spent the journey translating Simon’s morning sing into English. It doesn’t work quite as well as in Portuguese, but it was entertaining any way
Dona Jacinta gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and Rogério was thrilled to see his painting up on the kitchen wall.
We prepared for the day’s work with the usual circle, but out in the yard outside Dona Jacinta’ s house . Tati taught us a new song which Princesa , dona Jacinta’s dog was to join in with. The morning went well. Some of us was introduced to the pig in the shed at the button of the garden and started by cleaning rubbish from the path. Others were knocking out the old concrete around the windows , and others preparing the kitchen walls for painting. There was a real hum of activity everywhere., with Dona Jacinta and her daughter and friends cooking up a delicious lunch.
There were a few comments from the non-Brazilians about the lack of proper safety equipment, but thankfully the worst that happened was a broken water pipe and a bee sting.
Lunch was real feast with two different types of lasagne, rice and beans
Perhaps there was a bit too much food as after lunch half the crew seemed to be asleep on the floor of Dona Jacinta’s room, or on the sofa in the livings room.
After time to digest we divided up the afternoon.Dona Jacinta sat down finally, to her am lunch..
The afternoon passed quichly and before I knew it we were horridly packing everything away in order to get the bus back in time the evening activity at aramitan.
